Engines & Instruments

Back Home Next

The engine is a TMX 0200 from Mattituck. SUPER people to deal with, especially Maylon! All, or most, instruments are from Spruce, as is most of everything else needed that was not supplied in the kit. The exhaust was built up from a PVC template and sent to Exhaust Technologies, they did a near flawless job and it fit perfect.  Every bit of fuel system is done in fire sleeved Teflon –6 hose with a Facet fuel pump and a fuel pump bypass was installed with a check valve. The prop is a 72 X 35 wooden masterpiece from Culver Props.

Brand New TMX 0200 !

First fit, I took the motor on and off at least a dozen times during the build up process!

Building the cowel, this was one of the hardest parts of the project for me

I was told, after I was done, that the space around the hub is too big and is letting too much air out which effects cooling.

Air scoop I bought from AC Spruce and riveted on

This little Yussa battery has PLENTY of starting power!

The baffles were new from a C150 parts supplier. I had to cut them to fit

I spent a lot of time and care on the baffle sealing

Exhaust Mock Up for off site build

David Jr. Hellping Dad hang motor

Carb Heat Muff

The motor mount came from FFP. I set 2.5 Deg right and 1.5 Deg down thrust using washers as spacers. This is a MUST!!

Fuel Shut Off

The interior was sprayed with Rustolum Splater paint, very easy and looks great.

Shaft hole too big, I would make this smaller for better cooling air flow.

Non skid is 3M self stick from HD

The Scoop is for the Cabin Heat

The cabin heat works just OK, but I can feel it. I won't fly below 50 deg, too cold!

Cabin Heat On/Off Box and Discharge Hose

Cabin heat bypass dump heat duct

Oil Vent Drip Can, Keeps Belly CLEAN! It works!

I am especially pleased how the engine installation came out, very clean and professional.

Cabin heat box, I have the air split via a "Y" and a duct blowing on each foot!

Gascolator

Fuel Pump for TO and Landing, with back flow check valve. I seam to have enough head pressure so as not to use the pump but I do anyway.

Carb and cabin heat muffs

The electrical sysem was modeled from a C150

Oil Cooler wrap from Aircraft S & S with a cool air duct…works great!
